The Maureen Whiting Dance Company, inspired by the rawness and beauty of life, seeks to deepen the experience of performing arts. The work is characterized by intellectual research, movement invention, interdisciplinary collaboration, multi-media and site-specific performance.
Choreographer Dancer Mathematician Maureen Whiting has investigated movement improvisation through art performance practices and collaborations since 1997. Combining years of dance training and interdisciplinary collaborations with a deep knowledge of mathematics provides a context for her innovative practice. Current collaborators include company members Ezra Dickinson and Belle Wolf, Composer Motoko Honda, and designer Danielle Blackwell.
